Herentals, Ocotber 2024 – Euro Fresh Foods, a leading international partner in sourcing and distribution of dairy products and beverages within the Benelux, and Heylen Group, have announced the acquisition of Konings-Zuivel. This is a prominent player in dairy import and distribution in the Netherlands, as well as in the international distribution of specific FMCG (A-brands) brands in Europe.

This strategic acquisition is a crucial step in the broader growth strategy of both companies, aimed at strengthening their international footprint and achieving operational synergies. Both companies will work closely together and continue to operate under their own names.

“The acquisition of Konings-Zuivel fits seamlessly with our ambition to continue offering the ‘best deal’ for both our customers and producer partners”, says Kristof Van Lommel, Group CEO. “By leveraging economies of scale and pooling our expertise, we can remain competitive and offer our partners the best value for money. This ambition is supported by a strong and efficient distribution network.”

Konings-Zuivel, an independent dairy distribution partner with strong relationships in the European retail, foodservice and wholesale sectors, adds value through in-depth market insights and a broad portfolio of FMCG products. Together with Euro Fresh Foods, the companies offer around 800 product references on the market.

Boudewijn Meurs, currently the Business Unit Director, will be appointed CEO of Konings-Zuivel. He will focus on optimising operational efficiency and accelerating growth. Otto Miltenburg will remain as co-CEO, focusing on business development and tapping into new market segments to further accelerate the company’s expansion.

“The focus on delivering the ‘best deal’ for our supply chain partners remains at the heart of our strategy. This acquisition allows us to realise economies of scale and optimise our supply chain, which in turn results in added value for all parties involved”, says Meurs.

Euro Fresh Foods and Konings-Zuivel will continue to focus on sustainable growth and innovation. The acquisition not only strengthens their market position in Europe, but also contributes to further sustainability and innovation within the chain.

The transaction, subject to approval by the Consumer and Market Authority, is expected to close by the end of 2024.
